Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Noah Price's eight huge saves on the night gave the Emerson Men's Soccer team just enough room to step up and take a 1-0 win over formidable GNAC foe Emmanuel Wednesday night at Rotch Field in Boston. The match, Price's second back between the posts gave Emerson their fourth win of the season as they move to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference while dropping Emmanuel to 4-3-4 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC.
The first half was all Emmanuel as they pummeled the Lion defense with eight shots in the 45 minutes of action with Price rising up as the star in the show with seven saves in the half. The Lion attack and strategy seemed to work though as Emmanuel started stepping up the physical play of the game which saw them collect nine fouls in the half to Emerson's three.
With both sides pushing for offensive leverage in the second half to break the 0-0 stalemate, the play only increased in intensity as three yellow cards were issued from the 70th minute until the end of the game, with the Saints taking two and Lions one. EC's persistence paid off in spades though as they out shot Emmanuel 10-7 in the second half with the money maker coming in the 71st minute of play as Lucas Parolin set up a cross that saw a deflection find Jacob Lawrence's feet as he put away the only shot that matter in the match to make it 1-0.
Emerson roars back into action this weekend as they set to host conference opponent , Rivier this Saturday in Boston at Rotch field with a 1 p.m. start time.
