WEST HARTFORD, CT – In a day that showcased 17 kills and four blocks for Kat Rice and 35 assists for Katie Bailey, the Emerson Women's Volleyball team pushed their winning streak to five and remained perfect in GNAC play as they collected two perfect sweeps over Suffolk and St. Joseph's (CT). The wins push EC to 15-4 overall and 8-0 in GNAC play while Suffolk fell to 7-14 overall and 1-6 in the GNAC and St. Joseph's fell to 5-14 on the year and 1-5 GNAC style.

The first match of the day pitted the Lions against the Suffolk Rams which saw EC ready to swing it as they crushed a .263 average as a team with Kat Rice putting down a punishing .833 attack percentage with five kills to lead EC to a 25-13 win. Set two saw the Rams butt back a bit where they forced six tie scores and three lead changes, while Rice only swung a paltry .600 in the set while Maddie Breeland blazed a .500 average with four digs to top the Rams 25-17.

Three was all it took for the Lions as Rice continued her record-setting day as she closed out the match with a career-high .733 attack percentage with three more kills in the final set. Alexa Krakowiak set the tone in the third round though as she threw the gauntlet down with a ridiculous .857 attack percentage for six kills as the Lions left the bewildered Rams in the dust with a 25-11 final.

In the second match-up for the Lions they faced-off with the St. Joseph's Blue Jays where the rookie Rice set the pace again with a .600 average in the set for three kills while teammate Megan Kaplon helped the defense with five digs as she gave it all to keep the Lions ahead of the pack en route to a 25-11 win. Set two was pure dominance by the Lions as they marked their territory with a dirty .400 team attack percentage with Alyssa Thorne stepping in to tango with the Blue Jays as she polished them off quickly with the help of her .750 attack percentage and three kills to take a 25-8 win.

Keeping in the uniform for the day the Lions saw the Blue Jays get a bit aflutter as they pushed four tie scores and three lead changes but Thorne stepped in and clipped their wings a bit with her .400 average to complete the second sweep of the day. Jaime Morgan led the D with her four digs in the set as EC proved to be too much for the Blue Jays with a 25-15 final.

EC hits the hardwood again this week as they travel to Salve Regina this Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
