BOSTON, Mass. (September 4, 2026) – Emerson College netted three second half goals to secure a 3-0 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Rotch Field tonight.
Junior midfielder Kelsea Laughrey and first year forward Finlee Mills combined for two goals, each assisting on a goal by the other, while senior Zoe Simmons joined Mills in scoring for the second-straight match to lead Emerson to the win.

Junior Hailey Forman made three second half saves to preserve her second-straight shutout to start the season (seventh career) for Emerson. The Lions backline shined once again in front of Forman, limiting UMass Boston to four shots in the match overall. Sophomore Janiya Morales Matier kept UMass Boston in touch for much of the match, with six of her ten saves in a scoreless first half for the Beacons.
Emerson finally broke through 5:38 into the second half after outshooting the visitors 8-1 over the first 45, with Simmons knocking in a rebound at the far post off an initial shot from sophomore Kelsey Yoshikawa was stopped by Matier.
Emerson pulled away as Laughrey and Mills combined on goals in the final 20 minutes. Mills assisted on Laughrey's first goal of the season in the 71st minute with a cross from the left side. Laughrey then turned provider to Mills for her second goal in as many matches with just 1:02 remaining in the match. The three goal second half gives the Lions wins in their first two matches for the second-straight season.
Emerson (2-0-0, 0-0-0 NEWMAC) is right back in action on Sunday when it visits Roger Williams University at 3 p.m. The Lions next home match in next Sunday, September 13, when they host No. 2-ranked Emory University at Rotch Field at 2 p.m. UMass Boston (0-1-1, 0-0-0 LEC) visits Bridgewater State University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
