BRISTOL. R.I. (September 6, 2026) – Emerson College posted its third-straight shutout to start the season and remained unbeaten after playing to a scoreless draw with Roger Williams University in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Bayside Field this afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper Hailey Forman finished with a season-high four saves in preserving her third shutout of the season (eighth career) for Emerson. The Lions were also buoyed by the defensive backline of senior Carmen Talavera, sophomores Kate Baldock, Brady Campbell and Madisyn Grant and first year Lily Polin.
Junior Lizzy Thompson and sophomore Ava Boenig split the goalkeeping duties for Roger Williams, which played to its second-straight scoreless draw and posted its third-straight clean sheet to open the season as well. Boenig did not face a shot on target over the first 40:10, before Thompson registered three saves in the final 49:50 to preserve the draw.
Emerson remains unbeaten through the first three matches for the second-straight season, also opening 2-0-1 last fall. It marks the first time in program history the Lions have posted three-straight shutouts to start a season, besting two-straight clean sheets to open the 2022 season, carrying a shutout streak of 270-minutes into its next match, having not yielded a goal over the last 313:08 dating back to last season.
Emerson (2-0-1, 0-0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it visits Suffolk University for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. The Lions next home match is next Sunday, September 13, when they host No. 2-ranked Emory University at Rotch Field at 2 p.m. Roger Williams (1-0-2, 0-0-0 CNE) hosts Wheaton College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
