BOSTON, Mass. (September 1, 2026) – Emerson College netted early goals in each half and its defensive unit limited the Keene State College attack to just two shots and none on target in opening its season with a 2-0 victory in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Rotch Field tonight.
First year Finlee Mills and senior Zoe Simmons provided the offense for Emerson which got a strong defensive effort to seal the season opening win. Sophomores Abby Cockerilland Rowan McCrary each dished assis ts for the Lions.

Junior Hailey Forman logged her sixth career shutout for Emerson without requiring a save against two shots from Keene State. The Lions defensive backline, led by seniors Kaylin O'Meara and Carmen Talavera as well as sophomores Kate Baldock and Brady Campbell limited the Owls to just the two shots off target in completing the clean sheet.
Sophomore Allison Gough and freshman Michaela DiDiccio split the goalkeeping duties for Keene State. Gough finished with one save in the first half for the Owls, while DiDiccio registered three stops in the second half.
Mills opened the scoring for Emerson just 60-seconds into her collegiate debut by directing a cross from the right flank from Cockerill into the goal for a quick Lions advantage. Simmons doubled the Lions lead less than five minutes into the second half with a sliding shot off a cross from the right side of the 18 by McCrary for her seventh career goal.
Emerson (1-0-0, 0-0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Friday night when it hosts UMass Boston for a non-conference matchup at Rotch Field at 6 p.m. Keene State (0-1-0, 0-0-0 LEC) hosts Wentworth Institute of Technology for day one of the Denise Lyons, '90 Kickoff Classic on Saturday at 2 p.m.
