BOSTON, Mass. (September 13, 2026) – Emory University, ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III preseason poll, stuck twice in each half with four unanswered goals to secure a 4-1 victory over Emerson College in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Rotch Field this afternoon.
Emory answered an Emerson penalty kick with a spot kick of its own to spark a four-goal run from four different goal scorers. Juniors Mikayla Camp and Alexandra Burtis-Wyant as well as sophomores Sophia Cho and Sophia Asiain all netted their first goals of the season for the Eagles.
Senior Rachel Carr made three saves to preserve the win in goal for Emory, while junior Hailey Forman finished with a season-high seven stops in the Emerson goal.
Emerson looked poised to topple the preseason No. 2, opening the scoring in the 18th minute when senior Zoe Simmons was brought down in the box. Sophomore Brady Campbell converted from the spot for her first goal of the season (third career) and an early Lions lead.
Emory responded and was awarded a penalty of its own in the 32nd minute, which Camp deposited for her first goal of the season. The Eagles grabbed the lead just 90 seconds before halftime when Cho headed in a pass from senior Madison Teng.
Emory pulled away with two more goals in the second half. Asiain followed up her own rebound for a shot into the left side of the goal in the 64th minute and then Burtis-Wyant capped the scoring in the 77th off a pass from senior Kaitlyn Nimmer.
Emerson (2-1-2, 0-0-0 NEWMAC) is back in action next Saturday when it opens New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at Wheaton College at 1 p.m. The Lions next home match is on Wednesday, September 23, when they host Bowdoin College at Rotch Field at 7 p.m. Emory (3-0-1, 0-0-0 UAA) visits Berry College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
