Emerson erased a four run deficit after an inning and a half of play by sending 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run bottom of the second, taking advantage of three Elms errors, two walks and a hit batter. Wagner led off with a ground rule double to center and scored the Lions first run on a single through the right side by junior Ethan Chanthompalit. Emerson did the bulk of its damage with two out in the frame, with junior Braeden O'Connell and Fields pushing the Lions in front for good with back to back RBI singles before Fuller provided an exclamation point to the inning with an RBI ground rule double to center.
Fields provided a two-run double to right in a three-run third that extended the Emerson lead to 12-4. After Elms pulled back within six with two runs keyed by a pair of Emerson errors in the top of the fourth, the Lions got one back in the home half with an RBI single through the left side by Curley.
Emerson broke the game wide open and put themselves in position to end the game after seven with a seven-run sixth sparked by a two-run double down the rightfield line by Fields before Wagner launched his first collegiate home run to left to plate three. Fuller followed with his second homer in as many days two batters later to give the Lions a season-high 20-runs to mark its highest single-game total since a 21-14 slugfest win over Vermont State University Castleton on March 7, 2024.
