BOSTON, Mass. (March 19, 2026) – Junior second baseman Riley Caiazza ripped three extra base hits and drove in six to power Emerson College to a 14-3 victory over Emmanuel College in five innings of a non-conference softball matchup at Lester Rotch Field tonight.
Caiazza finished 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a home run, a walk and two runs scored to go with her six RBI. Sophomore Avi Kuperman also hit 3-for-3 for the Lions with a pair of stolen bases and two runs scored, while first year Malena Cardinale scored three runs.
Junior Cal Sheehan did the rest in the circle, striking out 11 over her five innings of work to earn the win (2-4), allowing three runs, just one earned, on three hits and two walks. She also helped herself at the plate by batting 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI.

Sophomore Grace Garon batted 1-for-2 with a double, walk and two RBI for Emmanuel. Junior Mia Fernandes also doubled for the Saints and scored a run. First year Carmen Crockett took the loss (1-4) in the circle, allowing ten runs, six earned, on seven hits with eight strikeouts and five walks over 3.1 innings.
Emerson grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first when Cardinale drew a lead off walk and later scored on Caiazza's first double of the night to right center. The Lions took control with a four-run third when Caiazza belted her first home run of the season (second career) to left field to score three.
Emerson broke the game open with a nine run fourth, sending 14 batters to the plate and taking advantage of three Emmanuel errors and three walks along the way before Caiazza capped the scoring with a two-run double to left.
Emmanuel, who scored a single run in the top of the fourth, added a pair in the top of the fifth to close out the scoring as Fernandes and Garon recorded back-to-back doubles after a runner reached on a catcher's interference with one out.
