BOSTON, Mass. (March 18, 2026) – Oneonta posted a 21-1 victory over Emerson College in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup at Lester Rotch Field tonight.
Senior Lindsay Townes paced the Oneonta attack with eight points, netting seven goals and dishing an assist, while freshman Ava Fitzsimons added four goals and an assist for five points, with six draw controls. Freshman Emily McIntee contributed three goals, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Junior Margot Haring made two first half saves in the Oneonta goal, before freshman Ava Berkowitz finished with six second half saves without conceding a goal. Senior Ellie Spotts totaled seven saves over three quarters of play.
Sophomore Laina Gustafson scored the lone Emerson goal, which spotted the Lions the lead just 35-seconds into the contest, off a feed from junior Ava DelliCompagni. DelliCompagni also totaled three ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls for the Lions, while Gustafson collected three ground balls, a caused turnover and draw control.
Gustafson's goal opened the scoring, but Oneonta followed with the equalizer when sophomore Angelina Weinert scored less than two minutes into the contest and then senior Chelsea Dodenhoff put the Red Dragons in front two and a half minutes later. Oneonta would take a 6-1 lead after a quarter of play, with Townes scoring the last three goals of the frame and did not look back.

Emerson (4-4, 0-1 NEWMAC) returns to NEWMAC play on Saturday when it visits Wellesley College at 1 p.m. The Lions next home game is on Wednesday, April 1, when they host Babson College for a NEWMAC matchup at Rotch Field at 6 p.m. Oneonta (4-2, 1-0 SUNYAC) hosts Morrisville next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
