Men's Tennis Sweeps Transylvania, 7-0

Nocchi and Leung lead Lions six double winners to cap spring break

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 13, 2026) – Emerson College closed out its annual spring break trip by sweeping its way to a 7-0 victory over Transylvania University in a non-conference men's tennis match at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Training Center on Thursday.

How It Happened

  • Nocchi and Leung clinched the doubles point for Emerson and led a sweep of the three doubles matches with their 6-4 win at No. 1. Alireza and Reibold did not drop a game in notching the first doubles win for the Lions at No. 3
  • Leung put Emerson's first singles point on the board, leading his match at No. 2 singles before his opponent retired.
  • McAllister followed up his doubles win with Finestone at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles against Transylvania senior Max Deckop to put the Lions up 3-0.
  • Finestone provided the match clinching point for Emerson with his 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles against junior Luke Earlywine.
  • Emerson rounded out the sweep of the six singles matches with Nocchi winning the first set in a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles before taking the second 6-0, while Alireza and Riebold won points at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively for the Lions.

"I am Incredibly proud of this sweep," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "Transylvania is a tough, talented, and loud team. The boys showed incredible toughness and resolve to win every single match. This is a great way to cap our spring break trip."

Emerson (5-5, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns to action next Friday, March 20, when it opens NEWMAC play against MIT in Cambridge at noon. Transylvania (3-4, 0-0 HCAC) hosts Berea College on March 21 at 11 a.m.
