BOSTON, Mass. (February 7, 2026) – Massachusetts Institute of Technology connected on 57.4-percent of its shots from the floor with 13 three-pointers in securing an 86-77 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball matchup on Hank Smith Court at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium this afternoon.
Senior Parker Spann led five from MIT in double figures with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior Wyatt Mowery added 14 points, connecting on 4-of-7 three-pointers, with eight rebounds, three assists and six blocked shots, while classmate Michael Zhang totaled 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, and three assists. Rounding out the Engineers in double figures were senior Rome Delgado-Gonzalez with 12 points and three assists, while junior Isaac Dobie chipped in 11 points, six boards and two steals off the bench.
Senior Jacob Armant scored 17 of his team-high 20 points in the second half on 6-of-10 shooting, while converting all six free-throws, with three rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and steal. Sophomore Giulio Volonte scored 13 of his career-best 19 points in the first half, finishing 7-for-13 from the floor, including 3-for-6 from long range off the bench with five rebounds and two steals. Junior Shay Roban rounded out the Lions in double figures with 12 points, connecting on 4-of-5 threes off the bench.

MIT led for all but 1:49 of the contest, answering an early basket from senior Linus Helmhold, who grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Emerson, with ten-straight points, including seven from Spann who canned a three-pointer, along with Zhang, to grab an eight point lead (10-2) less than four minutes into the game. The Engineers would not trail again, stretching their lead to 15 (32-17) when Mowery capped a 12-2 run with a three-pointer after the Lions had trimmed the deficit to five (20-15) after a Roban triple with 8:59 to play in the half.
Emerson closed back to within eight (37-29) at the half and then crept back within seven (40-33) 1:16 into the second half after Mowery had opened the second half with a three. MIT responded with a 12-1 run to grab an 18-point lead (52-34) on a Dobie layup with 14:48 on the clock. The Lions would not get back inside single digits until two free-throws by Volonte to round out the scoring with 15-seconds to play in the contest for the final margin.

- Roban reached double figures for the fourth-straight game and seventh time this year overall (12th career).
- Armant netted 20 points for the third game this season (sixth career), posting his 12th double-figure scoring game of the year (42nd career) to finish as the Lions high scorer for the fifth time (14th career).
- Volonte reached double figures for the second time in his career with his career-high scoring game.
- Volonte and Roban led an Emerson bench that outscored its starters, 49-28, with Armant scoring 20 of the Lions starters points.
- Emerson finished shooting 38.7-percent from the floor, including 10-for-31 (32.3%) from three, after connecting at 46.4% overall in the second half.
