BOSTON, Mass. (February 7, 2026) – Curry College posted 15 team blocks on its way to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-21) victory over Emerson College in a non-conference men's volleyball match at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium this evening.
Sophomore Milo Barry Young and freshman Jayden Garcia led the Curry blocking effort with Barry Young finishing with seven total blocks (one solo) to go with three kills on six total attacks without an error (.500) and two service aces, while Garcia tallied eight block assists and two digs. The Colonels blocking efforts led to 29 attack errors by Emerson who also registered nine service errors.
Freshman Nyko Whitaker spread his 18 assists out to eight different hitters for Curry, adding two kills, seven digs, an ace and four block assists. Sophomore Chris Milfort led the Colonels attack with nine kills, three blocks, two digs and an ace, while classmate Michael Swanigan added seven kills with just one error on 19 total attacks (.316) with two assists, 11 digs, an ace and three block assists.
First year Ryan Chen dished out 23 assists for Emerson with two aces and three digs. Junior Riley Goldman posted a match-high nine kills for the Lions with three digs, while first year Cade Ott totaled seven kills, ten digs, an ace and block assist. First year Jack Ferrie had a hand in four of the Lions five blocks in the match, including a season-best three solo.
Curry scored seven straight points, including four on Emerson errors, to turn a three-point deficit (11-8) after a Goldman kill into a four-point lead (15-11) with Milfort putting down a pair of kills to go with a Barry Young ace. The Colonels did not relinquish control of the set, stretching the lead to six (23-17) with a kill from sophomore Hashim Khan.
Curry turned up its blocking with seven as a team in the second set. The Colonels staked out a four-point cushion (8-4) with a block from Khan and Barry Young, before stretching the advantage to as much as nine (19-10) before closing out the set. Curry clinched the match by using an 8-2 run to snap the tenth tie of the set and open a six-point lead (20-14) after a Khan kill and did not look back despite a late push from Emerson to trim the lead to two points (21-19) after a solo block by Ferrie.
Emerson (2-4, 0-0 GNAC) is right back in action on Boylston Street on Tuesday when it hosts Fisher College for a non-conference match at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Curry (4-6, 0-0 NEVC) returns to action next Saturday, February 14, when it faces King's College of Pennsylvania in a tri-match at Dean College at noon.
