BOSTON, Mass. (February 19, 2026) – Nichols College hit .416 with just nine attack errors on its way to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-18) victory over Emerson College in a non-conference men's volleyball matchup at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium tonight.
Sophomore Evan Sachs engineered a Nichols attack that hit .416 with just nine errors over the three sets with 29 assists to set up six different hitters, including four with six-plus kills. He also chipped in with four kills of his own, two service aces, four digs and four block assists.
Sophomore Adam Vincent delivered a match-high 14 kills with just four errors on 27 total attacks for a .370 hitting percentage, adding two assists, two aces and nine digs. Junior Bradyn Pomainville hit .444 with six kills and four aces, while freshman Austin Gavin recorded six kills without an error on nine attacks (.667). Junior Cade Bernardi chipped in with ten digs and four assists for the Bison.
Sophomore Mario Cielo-Salinas led Emerson with six kills, two service aces, three digs and two block assists. Classmate Cash Muse added three kills on six total attacks without an error (.500) and three blocks, while first year Ryan Chen dished out ten assists with seven digs.
Sachs doled out ten assists to four different hitters as Nichols hit .684 with just one error on 19 attacks in the opening set to go with four aces and five blocks. He served the Bison to the first four points of the first set as the visitors jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the set and did not look back.
Nichols had just two attack errors in a second set in which it hit .476 with five aces. The Bison took control of the frame with six-straight points on Pomainville's serve, including three-straight aces after Vincent delivered two kills, for a 14-5 lead the visitors would not relinquish.
Emerson held the lead early in the third set, taking three-straight points keyed by kills from Cielo-Salinas and Muse to grab a 6-3 edge. Nichols used a 9-1 run, sparked by a pair of kills by Vincent, to turn a 7-4 deficit into a 13-8 lead after a Vincent kill. The Lions pulled back within 17-15 after a Cielo-Salinas ace, but the Bison sealed the match win with a closing 8-3 run, capped by a Vincent kill for match point.
Emerson (3-7, 0-0 GNAC) is right back in action on Saturday when it opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference play against Emmanuel College at Brown and Plofker Gym at 5 p.m. Please note the time and venue change for this match originally slated to be play at Emmanuel. Nichols (5-8, 0-0 NEVC) opens its New England Volleyball Conference slate tomorrow night when it hosts Curry College at 7 p.m.
