WELLESLEY, Mass. (October 7, 2026) – Wellesley College got goals from four different players, combining with Emerson College for four second half goals, in claiming a 4-2 victory in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action at Wellesley Soccer Field this afternoon.
Wellesley grabbed a two-goal lead in the first half and made it stand through a combined four goals in the second half for the two teams. Sophomore Olivia Lore did the rest with 11 saves in the Blue goal to preserve the win.
Wellesley got goals from junior Solveig Unteroberdoerster, sophomore Alice Lee and first years Rachel Burns and Maya Fraser.
Sophomore Madisyn Grant and first year Keira Plunkett each netted their first collegiate goals for Emerson. Sophomore Addie Costello finished with six saves over the opening 70 minutes in the Lions goal, while junior Hailey Forman made one stop over the final 20-minutes.
Lee opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal to push Wellesley in front in the 28th minute, before Unteroberdoerster doubled the Blue lead with 5:26 to play before halftime.
Plunkett pulled Emerson back into the game with her first collegiate goal at the hour mark, which would spark a four-goal flurry for the teams over the next seven minutes. Fraser restored Wellesley's two goal cushion just eight seconds after Plunkett's marker.
Grant pulled Emerson again within reach with her first collegiate goal in the 65th minute, but Burns had a quick answer for Wellesley less than three minutes later with her second goal of the season in the 67th minute. Lore did the rest, finishing with seven of her 11 saves in the second half.
Emerson (3-6-2, 1-3-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Coast Guard Academy for a NEWMAC contest at Rotch Field at 1 p.m. Wellesley (5-4-2, 2-1-1 NEWMAC) visits Wheaton College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
