BOSTON, Mass. (October 3, 2026) – Emerson College scored in each half to secure its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season with a 2-1 decision over Clark University in NEWMAC women's soccer action at Rotch Field this afternoon.
Sophomores Abby Cockerill and Kelsey Yoshikawa scored on either side of halftime to lead Emerson to the win, while classmate Addie Costello finished with three saves in the Lions goal to preserve the win.
Junior Solimar Rivera scored the lone Clark goal, while senior Gabrielle Huryn made three saves in the Cougars goal.
Cockerill provided Emerson with an early lead when she converted her team-leading third goal of the season at the far post off a cross from the left side by first year Finlee Mills 7:51 into the match.
Rivera leveled the match less than 12 minutes before the intermission when she followed up her own rebound to score her fourth goal of the season.
Yoshikawa's first goal of the year proved important, taking a square ball from the right side by first year Rylie Hooes and netting the winning goal with 18:31 remaining.
Emerson (3-5-2, 1-2-0 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Wellesley College for a NEWMAC matchup at 4 p.m. The Lions return home next Saturday, October 10, to host Coast Guard Academy for a NEWMAC contest at Rotch Field at 1 p.m.
