NEWPORT, R.I. – Emerson Women's Soccer outlasted Salve Regina a NEWMAC road battle, picking up a 2-1 victory on Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon at Reynolds Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It didn't take long for the hosts to get on the board as freshman Paige Jessuck gave the Seahawks the lead in the 12th minute with an assist from junior Olivia Tacconi.

Emerson was able to equalize right before the halftime whistle as first year Ella Knox found the back of the net for her first-ever collegiate goal. Sophomore Kayla Sweeney was credited with the assist.

Both teams had opportunities in the second half, but it was Emerson that was able to pull ahead as first year Rowan McCrary scored the game-winner in the 76th minute.

There was a lot of offense in the match with the two teams combining for 28 shots, including 20 on-target. Salve had the slight advantage at 15-13.

Emerson was awarded more corner kicks in the match outpacing Salve Regina 5-3.

McCrary had three shots in the contest to lead the team with all of them being on-goal.

Salve Regina's offensive leader was senior Marissa Perachi who had six shots and four on-goal.

Sophomore Hailey Forman stood on her head, making 11 saves in the win. Sophomore Emelia DaPonte and senior Reagan Moffatt split time for the Seahawks making one and three saves, respectively.

Emerson will wrap up its non-conference slate on Wednesday, Oct. 1 as the Lions travel to Brunswick, Maine to take on Bowdoin at 7 p.m.
