BOSTON – Emerson Men's Soccer earned its first conference point in the NEWMAC standings Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon as it played to a scoreless draw with Salve Regina at Rotch Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The match was physical early on as the teams racked up the fouls and denied offensive opportunities. There was not a shot in the match until the 16th minute.

The Seahawks put on a lot of pressure late in the half, but could not find the back of the net.

The defenses stood strong in the second half with only five shots being recorded between the two teams. There were also only three corner kicks.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Though the offensive opportunities were hard to come by, it was Salve Regina doing most of the attacking as they outshot the Lions 9-1. Only four of the 10 shots in the contest were on-target, all from Salve.

The visitors also had the edge in corner kicks with a 3-1 advantage.

Junior midfielder Zac Osmond had the only shot fo Emerson in the contest.

First year goalkeeper Asa Roberts made four saves to earn his second clean sheet of the season, while sophomore Nick Giorgi did not make a save in the contest.

Emerson starts a three-game road stretch on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The Lions will travel to Westfield State to take on the Owls at 7 p.m.
