BOSTON – First year forward Kelsey Yoshikawa scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 88th minute against Roger Williams to even the score at one and help the Lions draw the match at Rotch Field on Saturday (Sept. 13) afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Both teams were able to generate several offensive chances early, each winning two corner kicks in the first 25 minutes of the contest.

It wasn't until the 31st minute when we would get our first goal as Roger Williams junior Beth Yucius was able to find the back of the net to give the visitors the advantage heading into the intermission.

Emerson would step up its game in a physical second half that featured 10 fouls.

The Lions were able to put two shots just off target in the early goings of the second half, but could not find the frame.

With time running out, the hosts picked up their offensive attack. They were finally able to find the equalizer in the 88th minute as Yoshikawa gathered a ball on the right side of the penalty area and beat the RWU keeper at the far post to salvage the result.

First year goalkeeper Addie Costello got the start between the pipes and made three saves, while sophomore Healey Walker came in to finish the game and did not face a shot. Coco Marrelli played the entire game in goal for the Hawks and made four saves.
