NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.- Sophomore Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.) belted two home runs as the Emerson College baseball team collected an 11-6 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson grabbed a quick 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.) clobbered a three-run home run to score Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Justin Fields (Glen Ridge, N.J.).
- WPI responded with a run in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Engineers plated a pair of runs in the second to level the contest at 3-3.
- The Lions chalked up five runs in the top of the third to capture an 8-3 advantage. Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.) launched his second homer of the game, a solo shot to centerfield. Chris Ferara (Coral Springs, Fla.) raked a two-out base hit up the middle to drive in Tobey Roberts (West Tisbury, Mass.) from second base. Jake Okamoto (Placentia, Calif.) laced a double down the left field line to knock in Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas), Chris Ferara (Coral Springs, Fla.), and Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.).
- Emerson added a run in the top of the fourth to stretch the margin to 9-3. Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) roped a two-out double to score Tobey Roberts (West Tisbury, Mass.).
- WPI picked up three runs in the sixth inning to trim the gap to 9-6.
- The Lions tacked on two runs in the ninth inning to push their lead to 11-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.) posted four RBIs, two hits, and two runs scored.
- Jake Okamoto (Placentia, Calif.) finished with three RBIs, one hit, and a stolen base.
- Justin Fields (Glen Ridge, N.J.) notched two base knocks, one RBI, and a run scored.
- Aidan Rice (Columbus, Ohio) pitched six innings and registered five strikeouts in his eighth start on the mound. Tyler Metcalf (Louisville, Ky.) tossed three innings of relief to pick up the save.
