Baseball Slugs Past Elms, 7-5

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.- The Emerson College baseball team launched four home runs en route to a 7-5 victory over Elms Tuesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Elms generated a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to grab a 2-0 edge.
  • The Blazers tacked on a run in the fifth to widen the margin to 3-0.
  • Emerson erupted for six runs in the home half of the fifth inning to claim a 6-3 lead. Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) belted his second home run of the season, a three-run blast to drive in Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Tobey Roberts (West Tisbury, Mass.). Chris Ferara (Coral Springs, Fla.) followed with a solo shot for his first homer of the spring. With two outs in the frame, Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.) launched a two-run home run to plate Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.).
  • Elms scored twice in the top of the sixth to trim the deficit to 6-5.
  • The Lions responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the gap to 7-5. Rookie Ethan Gorman (Randolph, N.J.) clobbered his first collegiate homer to lead off the frame.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chris Ferara (Coral Springs, Fla.) landed three hits to go with one RBI and one runs scored.
  • Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) posted three RBIs, two base hits, and a run scored.
  • Tobey Roberts (West Tisbury, Mass.) finished with two base knocks and one run scored.
  • Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.) drove in two RBIs while adding one hit and one run scored.
  • Angelo Deer (West Orange, N.J.) tossed four innings in his first start of the year and finished with four strikeouts. Ezra Charles (Baltimore) worked five innings of relief and fanned six batters.
