NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.- The Emerson College baseball team slugged past Rivier 16-12 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rivier picked up two runs in the top of the second inning to establish a 2-0 edge.
- Emerson answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to snag a 3-2 lead.
- The Lions produced four runs in the third to widen the gap to 7-2.
- Emerson tacked on a run in the home half of the fourth inning to push its advantage to 8-2.
- The Raiders manufactured five runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 8-7.
- The Lions responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth frame to extend their lead to 9-7. Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) belted his team-leading third home run of the season.
- Rivier chalked up a pair of runs in the sixth inning to knot the contest at 9-9.
- Emerson reclaimed a two-run advantage with a two runs in the bottom of the sixth, 11-9. Ethan Chanthompali (Lowell, Mass.) and Braeden O'Connell (Boxford, Mass.) start the inning with back-to-back solo homers.
- The Lions racked up five runs in the seventh to stretch the margin to 16-9.
- The Raiders tallied three runs in the eighth inning to trim the gap to 16-12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.) racked up four RBIs, three hits, and two stolen bases.
- Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) finished with three hits and two runs scored.
- Ethan Chanthompali (Lowell, Mass.) posted two hits, three RBIs, and four runs scored.
- Chris Ferara (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Avery Smith (Burlington, Vt.) both chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.
- Jake Morvillo (Glen Ridge, N.J.) pitched 4.2 innings and recorded four strikeouts in his first start of the year. Huon Fitzpatrick (Encinitas, Calif.), Lukas Phillip (Franklin, Mass.), Russell Silverman (New York, N.Y.), and Robby Posio (Queens, N.Y.) all made relief appearances on the afternoon.
