Men’s Lacrosse Upended at Springfield Saturday

BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College men's lacrosse team absorbed a 20-6 loss at Springfield Saturday afternoon.


THE BASICS:
Score: Emerson 6, Springfield 20
Records: Lions (2-7, 0-2 NEWMAC) | Pride (3-4, 2-0 NEWMAC)
 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson sported a 2-1 edge less than a minute into the game as Alex Menendez (Naperville, Ill.) and Aedan Kiniry (Westport, Conn.) tallied early goals.
  • Springfield rattled off six unanswered goals to end the first quarter owning a 7-2 lead.
  • The Pride produced six goals in the second frame to carry a 13-2 advantage into the halftime intermission.
  • The home side outscored the visitors 3-0 in the third to stretch the margin to 16-2.
  • Both squads chalked up four goals in the fourth quarter as Springfield secured its second-straight conference win.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Aedan Kiniry (Westport, Conn.) notched a pair of goals and added one assist.
  • Benson Offitt (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Zachary Stern-Hayes (Brunswick, Maine), Alex Menendez (Naperville, Ill.), and Benjamin Redlener (Andover, Mass.) all recorded one goal.
  • John Marcone (Oakland, Calif.) and Charlie van Beuren (Portsmouth, R.I.) both collected three ground balls.
  • Elijah Turbow (Valley Village, Calif.) posted 10 saves in his ninth start of the spring. Ethan Corby (Whitby, Ontario) registerd five saves in his fourth appearance and Jacob Goldberg (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) also made his second appearance of the season in the contest.
  • Emerson finished with 22 shots on the afternoon while Springfield racked up 55 shot attempts.
