Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Oneonta

AUBURNDALE, Fla.- The Emerson College baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks to Oneonta Friday, falling 4-2 and 4-3.


GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Emerson 2, Oneonta 4
Records: Lions (5-4) | Red Dragons (5-5)
 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson produced a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Robby Posio (Queens, N.Y.) and Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.) both crossed the dish in the frame.
  • Oneonta responded with three runs in the home half of the third to snag a 3-2 edge.
  • The Red Dragons added a run in the sixth inning to widen the margin to 4-2.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) registered two base knocks and one RBI.
  • Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.) chipped in with one hit and one run scored.
  • Aidan Rice (Columbus, Ohio) threw his first complete game of the spring in his fourth start. He fanned five batters in six innings of action while issuing zero walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson seized a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) laced a single to centerfield to drive in Jordi Arboleda (New York, N.Y.).
  • The Lions notched one run in the second to double their lead to 2-0. Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) belted a solo blast to left field for his first home run of the season.
  • Oneonta plated two runs in the top of the fourth inning to level the game at 2-2.
  • The Red Dragons chalked up a pair of runs in the fifth to claim a 4-2 advantage.
  • Emerson scored one run in the home half of the seventh inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. Aidan Callahan (Westchester, N.Y.) tagged up and scampered home from third base on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jake Okamoto (Placentia, Calif.).


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Nick Hubbe (Chappaqua, N.Y.) tallied two hits, one RBI, and a run scored.
  • Briggs Loveland (Burleson, Texas) added one hit and one RBI.
  • Ezra Charles (Baltimore, Md.) pitched five innings in his second start of the year and finished with four strikeouts. Jake Smith (Boyne, Mich.) tossed 1.1 innings of relief in his fourth outing of the season. Henry Kagan (Pelham, N.Y.) worked two-thirds of an inning in his fifth appearance out of the bullpen.
