SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Emerson College women's basketball team absorbed a 70-40 loss at Springfield Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Springfield used a strong start to claim a 15-7 lead through 10 minutes of action.
- The Lions outscored the Pride 13-12 in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 27-20 at the half.
- Springfield poured in 26 points in the third and limited Emerson to just four points in the frame to hold a 53-24 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
- The hosts finished with a 17-16 edge in fourth-period scoring to roll to a crucial league win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Charlotte Levison (Atherton, Calif.) netted 10 points and collected eight rebounds.
- Bri Frongillo (Hopedale, Mass.) tallied 10 points while Kaylin O'Meara (Littleton, Mass.) added nine points.
- Emerson managed a field-goal percentage of 27.8% while being held to 2-for-20 shooting from beyond the arc.
- Springfield shot 40.3% from the floor and 46.2% from the perimeter.
- Amanda Leary notched a double-double to lead the Pride, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Angie Czeremcha scored 16 points and Claire Finney registered 12 points.
