Men’s Volleyball Knocks Off Regis 3-2, Blanks Curry Saturday

BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College men's volleyball team triumphed in five sets over Regis before cruising to a 3-0 victory over Curry Saturday afternoon at the Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym.


EMERSON VS. REGIS
THE BASICS:
Score: Emerson 3, Regis 2
Records: Lions (2-7, 1-3 GNAC) | Pride (10-6, 1-3 GNAC)
 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Regis prevailed 25-18 in the opening set to construct a 1-0 edge.
  • Emerson responded with a 25-20 win in the second frame to level the match at 1-1.
  • The Lions claimed the third 25-17 to snag a 2-1 lead.
  • The Pride battled back to eke out a 26-24 decision in the fourth set to force a winner-take-all fifth set.
  • In the deciding frame, Emerson bested Regis 16-14 to clinch its first conference victory of the year.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chase Fagen (Rye, N.Y.) racked up a match-high 21 kills to go with five digs.
  • Theo Hackett (Portland, Maine) posted a season-best 20 kills while adding nine dig.
  • Bryson Beck (Fresno, Calif.) finished with 42 assists, eight digs, five kills, five aces, and five total blocks.
  • Cash Muse (Montauk, N.Y.) added seven kills and Semaj Byrd (Rockledge, Fla.) recorded 12 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson rolled to a 25-12 win in the first frame to jump ahead 1-0.
  • The Lions topped the Colonels 25-20 in the second set to extend their advantage to 2-0.
  • Emerson capped off the sweep with a 25-16 decision in the third to run its winning-streak to three-consecutive matches.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chase Fagen (Rye, N.Y.) paced the home side with a match-best 15 kills and added six digs.
  • Theo Hackett (Portland, Maine) registered nine kills and eight digs.
  • Bryson Beck (Fresno, Calif.) posted 33 assists, eight digs, and five service aces.
  • Cash Muse (Montauk, N.Y.) and Liam Higgins (Redwood City, Calif.) chipped in with six kills each.
