CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Emerson College men's basketball team topped the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) 65-62 Wednesday evening on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson snagged a double-figure lead with 2:05 remaining in the first frame as Giulio Volonte (Milan, Italy) sank a free throw, 33-23.
- Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) knocked down a jumper at the halftime horn to give the Lions a 35-25 advantage at the intermission.
- MIT strung together a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to 39-38 with 13:49 remaining in regulation.
- Emerson reclaimed a 10-point lead with 3:38 to go in the second stanza on a layup by Linus Helmhold (Krefeld, Germany), 60-50.
- The Engineers whittled the gap to 63-62 with 13 seconds on the clock before the visitors secured the victory with a pair of free throws by Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Malaga, Spain) in the final seconds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Linus Helmhold (Krefeld, Germany) registered his first double-double of the year, scoring 21 points and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds.
- Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) finished with 16 points on the night.
- Jacob Armant (Arlington, Texas) added seven points and five boards.
- Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Malaga, Spain) chipped in with six points and five rebounds.
- Emerson shot 39.7% from the floor and drained 5-of-24 three-point attempts.
- MIT concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 40% to go with 25% shooting from the perimeter.
- Parker Spann poured in 18 points and collected eight rebounds to lead the Engineers while Spencer Lin notched 12 points and Merlin Gogolin added 10 points.
