Men’s Lacrosse Edged by Wentworth, 8-7, in Season-Opener

BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College men's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought 8-7 decision to Wentworth in the first game of the 2025 campaign Tuesday evening at Rotch Field.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson netted the only goal in the first quarter to hold a 1-0 lead. Brady Fish (San Clemente, Calif.) buried his first career goal less than two minutes into the contest.
  • Wentworth tallied twice in the second quarter before the home side pulled even late in the period as Brady Fish (San Clemente, Calif.) scored his second goal of the game.
  • The two teams headed into the halftime break level at 2-2.
  • The Leopards outscored the Lions 6-2 in the third to carry an 8-4 advantage into the fourth quarter.
  • Jack Burns (Clarksville, Md.) and Benson Offit (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored less than 30 seconds apart to trim the Lions' deficit to 8-6 midway through the final frame.
  • Emerson cut the deficit to 8-7 with 2:43 left to play in regulation as Jack Burns (Clarksville, Md.) registered his third marker of the night.
  • Wentworth's defense held tight and thwarted the Lions' push for an equalizing score to escape with an 8-7 win.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Jack Burns (Clarksville, Md.) paced the squad with three goals and one assist.
  • Brady Fish (San Clemente, Calif.) and Benson Offit (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) both finished with a pair of goals each.
  • Between the pipes, Elijah Turbow (Valley Village, Calif.) racked up 16 saves to go with four ground balls.
  • Emerson generated 36 shots on the night while Wentworth produced 44 shot attempts.
