Women’s Basketball Clipped by Clark, 75-72

BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season, dropping a 75-72 decision to Clark Saturday afternoon at Hank Smith Court.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Clark boasted an 18-13 lead after the first quarter of play.
  • Emerson outscored the visitors 16-14 in the second frame to cut the deficit to 32-29 at the half.
  • The Lions claimed a 55-47 advantage with 2:23 remaining in the third as Kendra Dodd (Tampa, Fla.) splashed a trey.
  • Emerson held a 29-26 edge in third-quarter scoring as the two teams headed into the final period deadlocked at 58-58.
  • The home side grabbed a 72-71 lead with 1:35 left to play in regulation on a free throw by Kaylin O'Meara (Littleton, Mass.).
  • Clark captured a 73-72 advantage on a put-back layup by Alaina Schatzabel with 12 seconds on the clock.
  • The Cougars came up with a clutch defensive stop in the final seconds before sealing the win with a pair of free throws by Kailey Rios with less than a second to go.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Bri Frongillo (Hopedale, Mass.) netted 26 points while adding five assists and four rebounds.
  • Kendra Dodd (Tampa, Fla.) poured in 18 points.
  • Kaylin O'Meara (Littleton, Mass.) tallied a season-high 10 points while Claire English (Winchester, Mass.) notched 11 rebounds and seven points.
  • Emerson shot 42.6% from the floor and 34.4% from behind the arc.
  • Clark finished with a field-goal percentage of 40.6% and connected on 4-of-21 from the perimeter.
  • Cyriah Coleman paced the Cougars with 20 pThe hoints and seven rebounds on the afternoon. Catherine Antwi and Alaina Schatzabel both scored 16 points while Kailey Rios chipped in with 15 points.
