BOSTON, Mass. (December 4, 2025) – Emmanuel College erased a six-point fourth quarter deficit to slip past Emerson College for a 72-69 victory in a non-conference women's basketball matchup at the Jean Yawkey Center tonight.
Sophomore Tyra Blye and first-year Shea Canavan combined for 39 points to fuel Emmanuel to the win. Canavan netted 12 of her 19 points in the second half, draining all three attempts from three-point range for nine fourth quarter points, including consecutive triples in the final two minutes to put the Saints in front for good. She finished 7-for-10 shooting off the bench overall, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, with four rebounds, four assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Blye scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to go with three boards, four steals and a block, while junior Geanna Bryant chipped in eight points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Saints.
Senior Bri Frongillo led three from Emerson in double figures with a season-high matching 19 points, including 14 in the first half, connecting on 3-of-4 three-pointers with two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sophomore Jessie Silk notched her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points, ten rebounds and four assists, while classmate Lindsay Gould contributed 11 points off the bench for the Lions with three boards. Junior Claire English also pulled down ten rebounds to go with eight points, four blocked shots and two steals.
Emerson closed out the first half with a 14-2 run to carry a seven-point lead (39-32) into halftime. Junior Kendra Dodd and Gould each drained three-pointers to spark the run, while English and Silk capped the stretch with layups in the final minute.
Emerson extended its lead to eight (42-34) with a Dodd three-pointer a minute into the third quarter and kept Emmanuel at arm's length with a five-point cushion (55-50) heading to the fourth. Gould connected from long range for a six-point Lions lead (58-52) less than two minutes into the final quarter, but the Saints rallied with seven straight points sparked by a three-pointer by sophomore Lia Krumian to reclaim the lead for the first time since the second quarter (59-58) after two free-throws from Bryant midway through the frame.
A Gould basket and two Silk free-throws put Emerson back in front (62-59) with 4:22 to play, but Canavan hit her first of three fourth quarter triples to knot the score (62-62) a minute later. The teams traded baskets until Canavan's three with 1:04 remaining put the Saints in front for good (70-67). Frongillo followed up her own miss to pull Emerson within a point with 7.4-seconds to go, but the hosts closed out the win from there.
