Babson Bests Women's Volleyball

Beavers remain unbeaten in NEWMAC play with road win

BOSTON, Mass. (October 7, 2025) – Babson College remained unbeaten in Conference play with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) victory over Emerson College in a NEWMAC women's volleyball matchup at Brown and Plofker Gymnasium tonight.

Junior Zoe Ackerman engineered the Babson attack with a match-high 31 assists, adding four service aces and four digs. Senior Isabella Allen and junior Hailey Fouche led a balanced Beavers attack with nine kills apiece, with Allen hitting .375 and Fouche .316, while chipping in three aces and five blocks. Senior Sophia Shaw contributed 13 digs, five assists and an ace.

Sophomore Chloe Hokenson delivered 13 assists for Emerson, pulling within four of 1,000 for her career, to go with four kills, a service ace, four digs and four block assists. Junior Rachel Dickerson led the Lions attack with seven kills, two aces and four digs, while junior Lauren Yoo chipped in seven digs, an ace and two assists.

Emerson held just three leads in the match, the first coming with a Hokenson ace to start the second set after Babson won the first after building a 10-2 lead to start. The Beavers went on to build a 12-4 lead in the second set before Emerson rallied to within two (14-12) after a kill by first-year Catherine McDonough. The Beavers held and sealed the set with a 10-4 run, including a string of four-straight points on freshman Misaki Harte's (San Jose, California/Archbishop Mitty) serve, with Fouche adding consecutive aces later in the run.

Babson jumped out to a quick 4-1 edge in the third set, but Emerson drew even six times, grabbing a lead (7-6) with a Dickerson kill. With the match knotted at 10-10, Babson took the set lead for good, but Emerson will still within two (17-15) after a service error. The Beavers separated from there, using a 6-3 run to open a six-point cushion (23-17) with an Ackerman ace and closed the match out from there.

Emerson (10-8, 3-2 NEWMAC) is right back in action here on Boylston Street on Thursday when it hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a non-conference match at Brown & Plofker Gym at 7 p.m. Babson (11-3, 5-0 NEWMAC) visits Endicott College for a non-conference clash on Friday at 6 p.m.
