SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 25, 2025) – Springfield College dealt Emerson College its first Conference setback of the year with a pair of late goals to secure a 3-1 victory in a key New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference women's soccer matchup at Irv Schmid Sports Complex tonight.
Postgrad Mu Kue and senior Meredith Healy netted goals in the final 14 minutes to clinch the win for Springfield after Emerson had pulled level with senior back Presley King's first goal of the season in the 76th minute.
First-year Katie McFerran gave Springfield a first half lead with her fourth goal of the year, assisted by sophomore Molly Baxter, 13:46 into the match.
King equalized with 14:19 remaining off a feed from sophomore Tatum Cohen for her third career goal, but Sprinfield regained the lead just 21-seconds later with Kue's second of the season, assisted by junior Summer Chong. Healy's sixth of the season extended the Pride lead with seven seconds on the clock.
Sophomore Mairead Marsden finished with three saves in preserving Springfield's third-straight win, while sophomore Hailey Forman posted four stops in goal for Emerson.
Despite the loss, Emerson clinched home field for the quarterfinal round of the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament, sitting six points ahead of WPI, who played Coast Guard to a 0-0 draw today, with two matches to play, holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Engineers due to its midweek win in Worcester. The Lions have 20 points and trail first place MIT (25 points) by five and sit a point ahead of Babson College (19 points) and two in front of Springfield (18) heading into the final week of the regular season.
