WORCESTER, Mass. (October 22, 2025) – Emerson College scored on each side of the intermission to gain control and held off a late charge to remain unbeaten in Conference play with a 2-1 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action at H. Carr Field at Alumni Field tonight.
First-years Brady Campbell and Kelsey Yoshikawa spotted Emerson a two-goal lead with markers either side of halftime to lead the Lions to their fourth-straight win to stay unbeaten through their first eight NEWMAC matches for the first time since joining the Conference in 2013.
Sophomore Hailey Forman preserved the win with six saves, including a pair of key stops late in the second half. Sophomore Maya Mussel made two stops in goal for WPI.
Campbell put Emerson in front in the 32nd minute with her second goal of the season off a rebound of an initial shot by senior Linae Bezdek that Mussel parried off the crossbar but fell to Campbell for the goal. Yoshikawa doubled the Lions lead 12:10 into the second half off a cross by first-year Rowan McCrary for her third goal of the season. McCrary's fourth assist of the season gives her a team-leading 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists) and the reigning NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week has had a hand in five of the Lions last eight goals with two goals and three assists over the last four matches.
WPI had a quick answer to stay in the match, pulling a goal back just 30-seconds after Yoshikawa's marker, as sophomore Abigail Johnson scored her sixth goal of the season off a long ball from freshman Tiziri Tizi-Ougdal at 57:40.
