Women's Soccer Holds Off Smith, 2-1

McCrary brace spurs Lions to NEWMAC win

BOSTON, Mass. (October 15, 2025) – First year Rowan McCrary recorded the first multi-goal match of her collegiate career to lead Emerson College to a 2-1 triumph over Smith College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference women's soccer matchup at Rotch Field tonight.

McCrary scored both goals in the first 21 minutes of the contest to spot Emerson a lead it would not relinquish to remain unbeaten in six matches in NEWMAC play. She opened the scoring 12:46 into the match, converting a cross from the right flank from junior Zoe Simmons into the right side of the goal. McCrary doubled the Lions lead less than eight minutes later when she followed her own rebound and fired in her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 21st minute.

Smith pulled a goal back in the 76th minute when it was awarded a penalty kick for a foul inside the top of the 18 and junior Una Keller converted for her fourth goal of the season. Senior Sky Smith kept the Bears in the match with seven saves.

Sophomore Hailey Forman preserved the win for Emerson with three saves. The Lions remain unbeaten through six matches in NEWMAC play with their second-straight win. It marks their longest unbeaten run in Conference play since opening 5-0-1 in 2022.

McCrary leads Emerson with ten points with her four goals and two assists this season, having recorded at least a point in two-straight matches.
