Women's Soccer Breaks Deadlock at Coast Guard, 3-1

Cockerill and Campbell markers lead Lions past Bears for NEWMAC win

NEW LONDON, Conn. (October 11, 2025) – Emerson College rode two unanswered goals on either side of halftime to secure a 3-1 victory over the United States Coast Guard Academy in NEWMAC women's soccer action at Nelson W. Nitchman Field this afternoon.

Emerson remained unbeaten in NEWMAC play with the victory, breaking through after back-to-back scoreless draws with three goals from three different first-years.

First-year Kelsey Yoshikawa scored her second goal of the season just 85-seconds into the match to give Emerson a quick lead, assisted by classmate Rowan McCrary.

Coast Guard leveled in the 26th minute as sophomore Ella Pottle scored her first goal of the season off a pass from first-year Bianca McIntosh. Emerson regained the lead just before halftime when first-year Abby Cockerill netted her first of the season with 2:09 remaining in the first half.

First-year Brady Campbell provided Emerson with an insurance marker in the 74th minute, scoring her first collegiate goal, off a feed from first-year Kate Baldock.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Foreman stood tall in goal once again for Emerson, preserving the win with five saves. Junior Julia Little also finished with five stops in the Coast Guard goal.

Emerson (5-3-4, 3-0-2 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday when it returns to Rotch Field to host Smith College for a NEWMAC matchup at 6 p.m. Coast Guard (1-10-2, 0-5-0 NEWMAC) visits Mount Holyoke College for a NEWMAC contest on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
