Coast Guard Tops Men's Soccer

Miller’s first half brace the difference in NEWMAC clash

BOSTON, Mass. (October 11, 2025) – The United States Coast Guard Academy scored twice in the opening 12-minutes and held Emerson College scoreless in a 2-0 victory in NEWMAC men's soccer action at Rotch Field this afternoon.

Junior Cole Miller scored a brace in the opening 11:19 as Coast Guard remained unbeaten in NEWMAC play in the win. Classmate Samuel Linkous did the rest, making two of his three saves in the second half to secure the shutout win.

First-year Asa Roberts finished with one save in goal for Emerson. The Lions had a pair of good bids to get back into the contest in the second half, but Linkous was up to the task on a pair chances from first-year Nayan Martlin in the 77th and 82nd minutes.

Emerson (3-5-5, 0-3-1 NEWMAC) is off until next Saturday, October 18, when it visits Clark University for a NEWMAC matchup at 2 p.m. The Lions return to Rotch Field on Wednesday, October 22, to host Babson College at 6 p.m. Coast Guard (7-2-3, 3-0-1 NEWMAC) visits Connecticut College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
