BABSON PARK, Mass.- The Emerson College women's basketball team collected a 78-62 win at Babson Saturday afternoon to begin NEWMAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emerson poured in 22 points and limited Babson to 17 points in the opening quarter.
- The Lions edged the Beavers 17-16 in second-period scoring to boast a 39-33 advantage at the half.
- The visitors chalked up 27 points in the third while Babson produced 21 points as Emerson held a 66-54 lead through three quarters of action.
- With 2:28 remaining in regulation, Emerson grabbed its largest lead of the game on a trey by Kendra Dodd (Tampa, Fla.), 78-60.
- Emerson tallied 12 points in the fourth frame and the home side managed eight points as the Lions secured their first league victory of the year.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Bri Frongillo (Hopedale, Mass.) nearly posted a triple-double, finishing with 24 points to go with nine rebounds and eight assists.
- Charlotte Levison (Atherton, Calif.) scored 19 points, grabbed nine boards, and registered five blocks.
- Kendra Dodd (Tampa, Fla.) and Jessie Silk (Newton, Mass.) both tallied 11 points.
- Claire English (Winchester, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
- Emerson shot 52.5% from the floor and 41.7% from three-point range on the afternoon.
- Babson finished with a field-goal percentage of 30% while connecting on 6-of-17 from the perimeter.
- Katelyn Mollica notched 15 points to pace the Beavers while Emily Flynn recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.
