BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College men's basketball team fell to nationally-ranked Worcester Polytechnic Institute 88-65 Saturday afternoon at the newly-renamed Hank Smith Court at the Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym. The Engineers entered Saturday's New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest ranked No. 22 in the latest D3Hoops.com National Poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the visitors grabbed a 12-point advantage with 48 seconds remaining in the opening frame, the home side trimmed the halftime deficit to 43-33 as Lucas Brenner (Miami, Fla.) sank two free throws late in the period.
- WPI constructed its largest lead of the game with 2:56 left to play in regulation, 86-63, on a fast-break bucket by Jack Bleier.
- The Engineers outscored the Lions 45-32 in the second stanza to secure their third-consecutive victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Trevor Arico (Saline, Mich.) netted a team-best 15 points to go with three steals.
- Linus Helmhold (Krefeld, Germany) posted 11 points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench.
- Jacob Armant (Arlington, Texas) tallied 10 points while Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Malaga, Spain) added nine points.
- Lucas Brenner (Miami, Fla.) finished with seven points and a team-high eight boards.
- Emerson shot 40% from the floor while and 29.4% from the perimeter.
- WPI concluded the game with a field-goal percentage of 54.1% while connecting on 11-of-26 from beyond the arc.
- J.R. Newman poured in a game-high 22 points while Brett Marelli notched 17 points and Tim Reidy chalked up 15 points for the Engineers.
