Women’s Volleyball Falls to Franklin & Marshall, No. 14 Wesleyan

BABSON PARK, Mass.- The Emerson College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback against Franklin & Marshall before absorbing a 3-0 loss to nationally-ranked Wesleyan Saturday.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Franklin & Marshall claimed a 25-22 win in the first set to snag a 1-0 edge.
  • The Diplomats earned a 25-22 victory in the second frame to widen the margin to 2-0.
  • Franklin & Marshall prevailed 29-27 in the third to wrap up the sweep.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Brooke Maynez (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Parker Cummings (Rochester, N.Y.) both finished with a team-best nine kills.
  • Amelia Combs (Eugene, Ore.) added eight kills and nine digs.
  • Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) dished out 24 assists to go with nine digs and four aces.
  • Caroline Davis (Orlando, Fla.) notched 15 digs and four service aces.
  • Coco Shutz paced the Diplomats with 10 kills and 15 digs while Liah Perez and Carly Campbell each finished with double-digit assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wesleyan captured the opening frame 25-21 to chalk up a 1-0 lead.
  • The Cardinals doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-18 decision in the second set.
  • Wesleyan wrapped up its third-consecutive sweep with a 25-22 win in the third.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Amelia Combs (Eugene, Ore.) and Brooke Maynez (Las Cruces, N.M.) each tallied 10 kills to lead the Lions.
  • Hannah Miller (Mission Viejo, Calif.) added five kills and two blocks.
  • Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) registered a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs.
  • Sophie Corbeil and Michelle Jorba both posted 11 kills to pace Wesleyan while Adrienne Nguyen racked up a match-high 21 digs.
