Women’s Volleyball Downs UMass Dartmouth, Falls to Lasell

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.- The Emerson College women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over UMass Dartmouth before dropping a 3-2 decision to Lasell Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • UMass Dartmouth captured the first set 25-20 to grab a 1-0 edge.
  • Emerson responded with a narrow 25-23 win in the second frame to even the match at 1-1.
  • The Lions claimed the third set 25-23 to seize a 2-1 advantage.
  • The visitors prevailed 25-14 in the fourth set to lock up the victory.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Brooke Maynez (Las Cruces, N.M.) racked up a season-high 20 kills to lead the Lions.
  • Amelia Combs (Eugene, Ore.) notched 17 kills and 12 digs.
  • Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) dished out 30 assists to go with 11 digs and seven kills.
  • Mia Rodriguez (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) finished with 18 assists and a pair of service aces.
  • Caroline Davis (Orlando, Fla.) posted a career-high 33 digs in the match.

  • Emerson bounced back to capture the second set 25-20, knotting the contest at 1-1.
  • The Lasers triumphed 25-22 in the third to regain a one-set gap, 2-1.
  • The Lions chalked up a 25-20 victory in the fourth frame to force a winner-take-all fifth game.
  • Lasell edged Emerson 15-12 in the fifth set to collect its fourth-straight win.
