MEDFORD, Mass.- The Emerson College women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at nationally-ranked Tufts Wednesday evening. The Jumbos began the year ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tufts opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Elsi Aires notched her first goal of the season.
- The Jumbos doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the final minute of the opening half. Anna Griffin found the back of the net off of a feed from Lena Sugrue.
- The home team added a score in the 53rd minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Waverly Sumner netted her first marker of the fall while Caroline Kelly registered an assist.
- Tufts tacked on its fourth goal of the match in the 69th minute to extend its lead to 4-0. Reese Birch bagged her first tally of the season as Sarah Hauck provided the assist.
- Emerson got on the board just 30 seconds later to cut the deficit to 4-1. Kelsea Laughrey (Redondo Beach, Calif.) collected her first career goal as Presley King (Lake Forest, Calif.) recorded her first assist.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Kelsea Laughrey (Redondo Beach, Calif.) led the Lions with three shots in the match while Presley King (Lake Forest, Calif.) fired a pair of shots.
- Senior Amara Schaub (Redondo Beach, Calif.) posted six saves in net. Rookie Hailey Forman (Saratoga, Calif.) made her collegiate debut and made two saves in 23 minutes of action off the bench.
- Emerson generated seven shots in the contest while Tufts racked up 28 attempts.
