Men’s Soccer Bests Bates, 2-1, Saturday

LEWISTON, Maine- The Emerson College men's soccer team rattled off a 2-1 victory at Bates Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson snagged an early 1-0 edge in the seventh minute. Theodore Bushara (New York, N.Y.) tallied his team-leading third goal of the season as Riler Selman (Portland, Ore.) picked up his first career assist.
  • Bates leveled the match at 1-1 in the 55th minute as Tife Agunloye netted his fourth marker of the fall.
  • The Lions reclaimed a one-goal advantage in the 60th minute, 2-1. Riler Selman (Portland, Ore.) notched his second tally of the year off of a feed from Theodore Bushara (New York, N.Y.).


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Theodore Bushara (New York, N.Y.) paced the visitors with five shots in the contest while Adriano Gomez (Copapayo, El Salvador) and Riler Selman (Portland, Ore.) both attempted a pair of shots.
  • Goalkeeper Beckett Hobbs (Issaquah, Wash.) registered three saves in his third start of the year.
  • Emerson concluded the match with 11 shots and four corner kicks. Bates manufactured 13 shot attempts and nine corners.
