NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Baseball traveled to Northborough on Tuesday for an afternoon showdown against conference rivals WPI. Emerson was looking to bounce back from a 16-6 loss to Suffolk a day prior and pick up their third conference win of the season. The Engineers were aiming to split the season series, having already lost once to the Lions on April 9th by a score of 9-8.
WPI stole the game in extras, winning 11-10 and walking off Emerson by scoring three runs in the tenth inning.
Briggs Loveland had three RBIs for the Lions, and
Braeden O'Connell and
Ryan Herskowitz each drove in two. The Lions fall to 5-19 (2-8 NEWMAC), while the Engineers improve to 16-11 (4-4 NEWMAC).
GAME SUMMARY
Top 1st - Loveland drove in

8th Inning - The Lions reclaimed the lead after Fields scored from third base on a sac fly by
Chris Ferara. The Engineers tied it back up on an RBI single. EMERSON 8, WPI 8.
10th Inning - Fields scored on an infield ground ball hit by Loveland with the bases loaded.
Tobey Roberts later drove in
Nicholas Favazzo on a fielder's choice, extending Emerson's lead to two. WPI cut the lead to one in the bottom half on a home run to left field. They later tied the game with a single through the left side and then walked it off with a sac fly to center field. WPI 11, EMERSON 10
