Coast Guard Overpowers Women's Lacrosse, 24-4

NEW LONDON, CT - Emerson College faced off against the Coast Guard Academy in NEWMAC women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears blew out their guests 24-4, as four Coast Guard players recorded multiple goals in the contest.

Two of Emerson's goals came from Ava DelliCompagni, raising her total this season to twenty-two; Lauren Longstreet and Ava Selby scored the other two for the Lions.

The result improves the Bears' record to 9-4 (4-3 NEWMAC), while Emerson falls to 4-8 (1-7 NEWMAC).

The Bears were up 9-3 by the end of the first quarter. DelliCompagni recorded both of her goals during the period, scoring one with 8:31 remaining off a pass by Callie Krosin and the other at 1:50 on a free position shot. Emerson's other goal in the quarter came from Longstreet, who scored with 2:19 remaining in a player-up situation.

The Lions were shut out in the second quarter while the Bears scored seven to take a 16-3 lead going into the second half. 

The Bears put up four more goals in the third quarter while blanking Emerson again. The fourth quarter saw Selby score at 12:28 remaining off a pass by Longstreet. The Bears scored four more times during the final period, making the score 24-4 at the final horn.

Abby McAllister was the leader on offense for the Bears, scoring four goals and assisting on six. Addy Bass had a hand in nine Coast Guard points, scoring five and helping on four. Sarah Skurat scored three and assisted on four, while Caitlyn Coates led the Bears with six goals.

Emerson plays their next game on April 15 at 4 p.m., traveling to South Hadley to face Mount Holyoke. The Bears will host Wellesley in their next game on April 17 at 5 p.m.
