HOW IT HAPPENED
- The scoring for Clark started in the third inning. Carter Doran drove in one on a double to right field. The next batter, Michael Sores, drove in another on a grounder to the shortstop. Doran would eventually score the next run of the inning on a wild pitch, making the score 3-0.
- The Cougars would tack on another run in the fourth inning. Billy Sullivan got caught up in a rundown after attempting to steal second base. Sullivan was eventually tagged out at second, but not before Michael Salzillo took advantage of the play and crossed home plate to extend Clark's lead to 4-0.
- Emerson's offense was dominated by the Cougars' Maxwell Gitlin, who earned a complete game while giving up only two runs (one earned) on two hits while recording seven strikeouts and one walk. Those two runs for the Lions came in the top of the sixth inning when
Braeden O'Connell drove one to left center for a double.
Nicholas Favazzo scored from third base and
Ethan Chanthompalit scored from second base on an error. Emerson cut Clark's lead down to 4-2, but those would be the Lions' only runs of the game.
- Clark got those two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ryan Bonja drove one in with a double down the left field line. Bonja later scored on a groundout to shortstop by Sullivan, putting the Cougars up 6-2.
- The final runs of the game for Clark came in the eighth inning. Ryan Caulfield drove a man in on a groundout to the first baseman. Then, Dom Mariani drove in two on a triple down the left field line. Finally, Doran singled to center field to drive in one and extend the Cougar lead to 10-2, which would prove to be the final score.
