The Lead: Makenzie Killough drove in 5 runs for the Emerson Softball team on Wednesday morning while Jessica Gomez neutralized the Westfield State's offense, allowing only three hits through 7 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

• The Lions started the scoring in the home half of the first inning when Makenzie Killough drove in two runs with a double.  

• The Lions doubled their lead in the bottom of the second inning when Sam Zannotti doubled in two runs to give the Lions a 4-2 lead after two innings. 

• Ab Clark cut into the Lions lead with a solo homerun in the top of the 5th inning but Killough answered in the bottom of the 6th inning with another 2-RBI double to give the Lions an 8-2 lead. 

• Riley Caiazza drove in another run in the bottom of the 6th while Jessica Gomez dominated the Owls offense to secure a 9-2 victory on Wednesday morning.
