The Lead: The Lions Softball team fell to Crown College in extra innings on Monday afternoon. After a back-and-forth battle all game, Crown was able to score the winning run on a sacrifice fly to centerfield in the bottom of the 8th inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

• The pitchers for both sides controlled the action for most of this game. The Lions struck first, scoring a run in the 2nd inning followed by another run in the 3rd inning. Crown College answered in the home half of the 4th inning, scoring two runs and tying the game. 

• The Lions retook the lead in the 5th inning before Crown tied the game again in the bottom of the 6th inning. 

• The 7th inning ended in a 3-3 tie as we headed for extra innings. The Lions offense went down quietly in the top of the 8th before Crown College scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly to center field to give them a 4-3 extra inning victory.
