THE LEAD: Emerson Men's Volleyball won one of their two matches in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Lions fell to Eastern Nazarene 3-0 in the first match, but rallied to take down American International by a score of 3-1 in match two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions fell to Eastern Nazarene in three sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-22. The match was tightly contested all the way through, with the Lions never trailing by more than 5 points in any of the three sets. Chase Fagen once again led Emerson in kills with 9, as Bayden Slavik tied his season high in assists with 23. For Eastern Nazarene, Jacob Zarges led the way on the attack with 14 kills, while Delfy Soler excelled on the back end for them with 17 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emerson won their second match of the day in 4 sets 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 against division I opponent American International. The Lions helped bring home the victory with sound defense, finishing with 15 blocks to American International's 7. The group got more aggressive on the attack after dropping game 1. Finishing with just 4 kills in the first game, they recorded 13, 10, and 7 in the final 3 slates, respectively.
The Lions were led by strong performances by Bryson Beck and Bayden Slavik. Beck finished with 14 digs and 5 assists, while Slavik racked up 20 assists and 7 kills. The Yellow Jackets were led by Robert Santana, who recorded 17 kills and 9 digs, and Alejandro Miranda who chipped in 16 kills and 9 digs.
