SALEM, Mass.- The Emerson College women's basketball team collected a 71-59 win at Salem State Saturday afternoon to begin the 2024-25 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Salem State held a narrow 21-19 edge after the opening quarter.
- Emerson outscored the home side 18-8 in the second frame to own a 37-29 advantage at the halftime intermission.
- The Lions poured in 21 points in the third period and allowed nine points to the Vikings as the margin expanded to 58-38 heading into the fourth.
- Salem State finished with a 21-13 advantage in fourth-quarter scoring but Emerson held on to claim a 71-59 season-opening victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Bri Frongillo (Hopedale, Mass.) paced the visitors with a game-high 24 points while adding six assists, four rebounds, and three steals.
- Claire English (Winchester, Mass.) posted a double-double on the afternoon, finishing with 14 points and 14 boards to go with six blocks.
- Jessie Silk (Newton, Mass.) netted 11 points and grabbed six rebounds in her collegiate debut.
- Elise Arnold (Los Angeles, Calif.) chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
- Emerson shot 43.3% from the floor and connected on 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.
- Salem State was limited to a field-goal percentage of 29.3% on the afternoon and 3-for-19 shooting from three-point territory.
- Kylie Gates led the Vikings with 19 points while Abuk Teng registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
