Women’s Basketball Storms Past UNE at BSU Cave Classic, 65-46

BRIDGEWATER, Mass.- The Emerson College women's basketball team posted a 65-46 win over the University of New England Friday evening in the opening round of the Cave Classic hosted by Bridgewater State.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson sported a 14-10 edge after the opening 10 minutes of action.
  • The Lions chalked up 20 points in the second quarter while limiting the Nor'easters to five points in the frame to boast a 34-15 lead at the half.
  • Emerson established its largest margin of the game less than a minute into the second half on a put-back layup by Claire English (Winchester, Mass.), 36-15.
  • The University of New England owned a 22-17 advantage in third-quarter scoring but Emerson carried a 51-37 lead into the final period.
  • The Lions outscored the Nor'easters 14-9 in the fourth to lock up their second-consecutive victory.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Elise Arnold (Los Angeles, Calif.) poured in a game-high 20 points and grabbed six boards.
  • Jessie Silk (Newton, Mass.) tallied 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
  • Charlotte Levison (Atherton, Calif.) collected 17 boards to go with seven points, six assists, and a pair of blocks.
  • Claire English (Winchester, Mass.) netted 10 points while Taylor Arnold (Los Angeles, Calif.) added seven points off the bench.
  • Emerson shot 41.4% from the floor and 23.5% from beyond the arc on the night.
  • The University of New England concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 23.3% while sinking 4-of-16 three-point attempts.
  • Faye Veilleux led the Nor'easters with 10 points.
