Women’s Soccer Drops Regular-Season Finale at #3 MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Emerson College women's soccer team capped off the regular season with a 3-0 loss at nationally-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Saturday.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • MIT grabbed a quick 1-0 edge, scoring in the fifth minute. Emiko Pope netted her fifth goal of the year, knocking in a cross by Madeline Seebeck.
  • The Engineers stretched their advantage to 2-0 with a strike in the seventh minute as Meagan Rowlett notched her eighth tally of the year.
  • The home team pushed its lead to 3-0 in the 23rd minute as Sean Luk bagged her sixth marker of the campaign.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Lauren Carlson (Fountain Hlls, Ariz.) recorded Emerson's only shot on frame while Linae Bezdek (Frisco, Texas), Tatum Cohen (Long Beach, Calif.), and Katie Wojcik (North Andover, Mass.) all attempted a shot.
  • Between the posts, Amara Schaub (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished with 10 saves.
  • The Lions managed four shots on the afternoon while the Engineers racked up 26 attempts.
     

NEWMAC TOURNAMENT TIME:

After finishing the regular season with a 5-4-2 record in conference competition, Emerson earned the No. 6 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. The Lions will travel to third-seeded Smith November 5 in the NEWMAC quarterfinals.
